YOUR THUMBNAIL IS WHAT GETS YOUR IDEAL CLIENT TO CLICK ON YOUR VIDEO AND TAKE ACTION IF YOUR HEADLINE HELPS YOU SHOW UP.

Are you ready to discover how to make your own YouTube thumbnails?

Don’t let YouTube choose a random image for your thumbnail because you have complete control over the first impression your video creates.

1.BE AWARE OF THE ESSENTIALS

Your thumbnails should be easy to read, on brand, and quick to make every time, but they should also be simple to see and understand for your ideal client. Keep the style of your thumbnails minimal.

Pro tip: Look around and see what other people are up to. Bloguettes; Trips with Trena, Love Inspired, Alex Beadon, Jess Creatives, Jessica Rasdall, Studio DIY, and, of course, TCCtv.

See how each of these YouTube channels has its own personality and is exactly on brand?

THESE ARE THE STEPS TO UPLOADING YOUR OWN THUMBNAIL ON YOUTUBE:

1. Click the upload icon (third from the right) on a new video, then upload your thumbnail.

2. To edit an existing video, right-click it and choose “Info and Settings” or “Pencil / Edit” from the menu.

2.USE CANVA TO CREATE YOUR THUMBNAIL GRAPHIC

There’s no need to start at the beginning. The hard work has already been done for you, babe, by talented designers! They know what makes a good YouTube design; all you have to do now is personalise it and make it your own.

Step 1: Pick a pre-made template.
Simply select the YouTube Thumbnail design under Social Media and Email Headers under > more designs (note the + plus sign).

If you wish to make your thumbnail from scratch, use the following dimensions: 1280 x 720px. Make sure your design has a name so it’s easy to locate and search.

Step 2: Make your templates unique by personalising and branding them.

Choose an image that is relevant to your training or that will pique the interest of your prospective client.

Add your text — Make sure your content is large enough to be readable when your image is shrunk down to thumbnail size in search engines or on Facebook. In your thumbnail, try to highlight one main feature of your video.

Add your branding elements – Replace the colours with those that correspond to your brand. If it makes sense, including your logo or URL, and learn how you may customise your YouTube thumbnail template without detracting from the core advantage or video topic.

Make sure your thumbnail and Youtube banner are complementary, and utilise a relevant profile photograph so we can recognise you right away.

3. CREATE A BRAND FOR YOUR CHANNEL

Give your entire channel a makeover by adding personalised thumbnails to all of your old videos now that you know how to generate your own thumbnail.

Pro tip: For different types of films, playlists, or challenges, like I discuss in the video, I advocate using the same style but changing things around.

That concludes our discussion. That’s one simple approach to make sure you stand out on YouTube and give your prospective clientele a consistent visual experience. We’re looking forward to seeing your new channels and thumbnails!
